Laila is a fairy who loves to sleep. Her favorite thing to do is seeing Aurora, the northern light, with her friends. When she is not together with her friends, she will sleep. She might look lazy, but she is a hard-working fairy.

**Hoot…hoot** I am a Great Grey Owl, a night bird dressed in a grey suit with a bow tie across my neck, and two pale arcs forming an “X” between my eyes as if I were wearing a tuxedo with a mask. Many people think I really look good. Aside from my unique features, I was born with great vision. I can see everything even in the dark with my sharp eyes. Also, imagine what it would be like if you could hear even the slightest noise and know exactly where it was coming from. Well, that is exactly what a Great Grey Owl like me can do. I am happy to prepare a splendid dinner for you, such as small rodents. What? You don’t like my food? Well, I did not mean to scare you, but you know I am a Great Grey Owl. I am a carnivore. I don’t eat fruits, berries or seeds. Do I look like a weird bird? Lots of my friends say that too. They say a bird like me rarely demands attention, tends to avoid areas with people, flies close to the ground to admire flowers in spring, and is nearly invisible in spite of my size. I am just satisfied with a peaceful life.

Hello there! I am a brown bear living in a vast forest. I am a very shy and secretive giant of the wild. I love to play hide and seek, so I am rarely seen by humans. Travelling and swimming sound fun. But eating is one of my favourite activities ever. I can use my keen sense of smell to find a wide range of food; especially in summer when all the berries bloom and a run of salmon fill the river. I enjoy feasting on fruits, berries and fish so much. They are all tasty and I am so happy! Nothing is ever greater than the summer. I’m not boasting, but I can eat as much as 90 pounds of food each day, and I may weigh twice as much as normal before the hibernation period when I give myself a long rest. Hehe, this is the reason why I can survive during my lengthy slumber.  **yawn** What? Has winter already arrived? I guess it is the time for me to have a really good beauty sleep. I hope we will meet again when I wake up in the spring. Let’s play hide and seek again next time and find some more delicious berries together next summer.  

     Tee-hee. Look over here on the tree! I am a red squirrel. Nice to meet you! You can spot me easily from down below since I have such vivid orange-red fur like the leaves in autumn. Plus, I also have a large bushy tail that is almost as long as my body. But believe it or not, you cannot catch me so easily because I can move and leap from branch to branch in a flash. I am active during day time. I like to roam around and play. Mostly, I rely on trees for food. Hazelnuts, acorns and seeds are my favourites. I am always busy searching for food in autumn and throughout winter. It is not an easy job to collect all those tasty things on my own with my tiny hands. Ha! I have an idea! How about you become my assistant? I would love to share some delicious hazelnuts with you. You must be wondering where I live. Of course, I need woodland to survive and can be found across coniferous, broadleaved and mixed woodland. If you really want to become my friend, promise me that you will never destroy any woodland, so me and other red squirrels can live happily in our nests.

     I am a white moose. My fur is as white as snow. My eyes are pinkish. I have a pair of big horns like the wings of a butterfly. Beautiful aren’t they? Sadly, many people think my beautiful horns are just pieces of decoration. With my long legs and hooves, walking through a snowy path in winter is a piece of cake. Come hiking with me if you are free. In my homeland of Scandinavia, the view of the mountain covered in a layer of snow is picturesque and stunning. I live around the rocky, wooded hillsides, or in the great boreal forest. I like to travel along streams and lakes. I like the weather when it is cold, like in the middle of winter. My secret is that I can tolerate the cold very well but easily suffer in the heat. I spend most of the summer trying to escape from the sun and heat, so I end up swimming for several hours per day. In fact, I am a powerful swimmer. I have been able to swim and dive since I was little. We can dive more than 5 metres underwater for food and plants growing on the bottom of a lake or pond. I can teach you how to swim if you want.
